Title: Shakti
Banner: Vyjayanthi Movies
Casting: Ileana, Jr NTR, Karthika, Sonu Sood
Music: Mani Sharma
Producer: Ashwini Dutt
Direction: Meher Ramesh

Story:

Egyptians (Sonu sood, Pooja Bedi) eyes Shakti Peethams in India to get their mummies back to life. However, they come to know that it is not an easy task to get that Shakti Trishoolam as it was guarded by Rudra (NTR Jr.). Sonu Sood dies in his hands when he tries to get that Trishoolam. His wife (Pooja Bedi) avenges her husband’s death and takes an oath to fulfill his desire. After 27 years, when the time arrives, she sends his men to get the Shakti Trishoolam. For that she has to kidnap Aishwarya (Ileana) who is born with the special powers of Shakti Matha. She is safeguarded by Shakti (NTR Jr.) and what happens next is the rest of the story.

Performances:

NTR, who has been given A1 Star title with the film, has done dual roles. He looked handsome in the role of Shakti Swaroop and did the role at an ease. NTR excelled in the dances and rocked in the role but when it comes to the flashback episode, NTR’s role in Maharudra is a disappointment to fans. The costumes did not work with NTR and he looked odd. Meher failed to showcase him in a unique look and the role as well is wrapped up at a rapid pace.

Ileana looked ravishing in the movie. This is the comeback film for the Sexy Siren after a brief gap of her Saleem. There isn’t much scope for the lady performance wise but she has her importance, when it comes to the story connection. Ileana is attractive and did an impressive job in all her three songs.

Prabhu as Ileana’s father and central home minister, Jackie Shroff as a gangster were appreciable in their good roles. Shayaji Shinde, Vinod Kumar are impressive while SP.Balu is good in his brief role. Puja Bedi in a villainous role is mediocre while Sonu Sood has no scope for performance. Brahmanandam’s role is wasted while Manjari Phadnis is seen in a couple of scenes in a very small role.

Analysis:

The first half of the film runs on a slow pace in a typical Telugu film style with NTR as a guide and few comic scenes on Ali, Krishna Bhagavan, Dharmavarapu Subramaniam. The interval bang is quite good, where NTR reveals the look of an NSG Commando secret agent. The last ten minutes before the interval leaves you pin high hopes on the second half. However, the second half of Shakti lets down your expectations completely. The Maharudra (NTR) characterization in the flashback episode lacks punch and energy and the costumes were another let down. The climax of the film is wrapped up in a hurried way with illogical sequences and senseless script.

Ashwini Dutt has spent lavishly on Shakti, and it can be seen visually in different locations. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography and Anand Sai’s art work need a special mention. The locales in North India, Dubai and Egypt are well captured. The basic concept of the Shakti peethams is a distinct and commendable idea from Meher Ramesh but execution wise, he totally failed through the screenplay. Connecting the story with the Egypt episode is useless with a missing fact. A couple of songs by Mani Sharma are good but the background score failed to lift the momentum especially in the flashback episode. Editing by Marthand.K.Venkatesh is patchy.

Plus Points: NTR Action, production values and cinematography

Minus Points: Screenplay,Direction,Story

Verdict: Shakti is a major disappointment for all the hype it generated. Now the economics of this film completely depend upon the fate of other releases and holidays season.

Wanted Movie Review

Wanted
Movie Details
Rating : 3
Caption : Just Average Entertainer
Photo Gallery

Details:

Banner: Bhavya Creations
Casting: Gopichand, Deeksha Seth, Chandra Mohan, Jaya Sudha,
Direction: BVS Ravi
Music: Chakri
Producer: V Ananda Prasad

Story:

Rambabu (Gopichand) is a happy going guy with his loving parents. He falls in love with a house surgeon Nandini (Deeksha Seth) when she saves his mom’s life. Rambabu chases her for his love and at times saves her from goons. He asks Nandini, what he needs to do, to prove his love. Nandini asks him to kill Basava Raju (Prakash Raj), who killed her father (Nazar), an honest cop and her entire family. Rambabu finally goes after the goons and kills Basava Raju.

Performances:

Gopichand has done similar kind of roles, good number of times and it’s time for Gopichand to take special care on scripts and avoid films like Wanted, which has a routine stuff with thin storyline. Deeksha Seth is certainly the USP of the film with her enough oomph and looks. She did reasonably well to her role, but needs to improve interms of acting to make it big in Tollywood. Prakash Raj is perfect as villain but it’s another regular role for him. Subbaraju is apt, Ahuti Prasad, Chandramohan, Jayasudha and Nazar did their justice to their roles. Brahmanandam generates few laughs and Ali is ok in his limited role.

Analysis:

This film doesn’t have any story. Director has no clue of what to do in the first hour of the movie. Therefore he simply passed the time with various irritating (literally) scenes where the hero runs after the heroine for love. Every now and then a song pops up on the screen and of course an action scene too. When the journey seems unending and pointless the heroine asks a favor from the hero and in the next scene he confronts the villain.

Second half is about villain’s search to reach the hero and teach him a lesson. The flashback of heroine too is revealed in this half. The brutal killing episode in this flashback reminds you of Atanokkade film. The only conflict or interesting element of this film should be the hero-villain confrontation. When the hero meets the villain at the interval point and puts a gun to his chest and returns back unhurt, there is no point in dragging the film for another hour.

BVS Ravi’s screenplay lacked spine. He has written a wafer thin story and has given it a mindless treatment so that it hardly engages the viewer. Comedy track shot on Brahmanandam is another waste of time. Wanted doesn’t appeal to hardcore mass masala movie lovers too. Ravi should get his basics right if he ever tries to make a second attempt at direction.

Cinematography is alright. Dialogues written by Ravi himself are bad. Editing is standard. Chakri’s music didn’t have any mass numbers despite mass hero Gopichand playing the lead role. None of the songs are appealing. Background score is strictly Okay. Production values are fine.

Plus Points: Gopichand action,Cinematography

Minus Points: Story,Screenplay,Deeksha seth action.

Verdict: Wanted is a regular routine predictable revenge saga without any excitement. The first-half of the film moves in a hope, looking out for good second-half. But the second half disappoints you terribly with a small, predictable flashback in the lines of Kalyan Ram’s Athanokkade. Watch it if you are a die-hard fan of Gopichand.

PARAMA VEERA CHAKRA MOVIE REVIEW BY SATYA

parama veera chakra

Rating : 2.5

Details:

Banner: Teja Cinema
Cast: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Amisha Patel, Sheela, Neha Dhupia, D. Ramanaidu, Brahmanandam, Roja Selvamani
Music: Mani Sharma
Cinematography: Ramana Raju
Editing: Goutam raju
Producer: C Kalyan
Director: Dasari Narayana Rao

Story:

Chakradhar (Balakrishna) is a very busy film star who acts in various genres of films and under numerous directors at a time. He gets a film offer from military officials that narrate him the story of army major Jay Simha (Balakrishna duel role). Jay Simha is a sincere and honest army man who goes to any end for doing instant justice. As he locks horns with international terrorists and a corrupted minister Dadaji (Nagineedu) they try to assassinate Jay Simha’s character by showing that he has links with terrorists. Rajiya Sultana (Neha Dhupia) does this operation successfully and Jay Simha gets arrested. Then the terrorists attack Jay Simha’s family and also school kids at a time. In the process of saving school kids Jay Simha gets severely injured in a bomb blast. Everyone in Jay Simha’s family except his wife (Ameesha Patel) gets killed by the terrorists. Injured major goes into coma and these military officials come for Chakradhar’s help to prove Jay Simha’s innocence and patriotism to one and all. What Chakradhar does for that is the rest of the story.

Performances:

Balakrishna excelled in the role of an army major. He is at his best in ferocious scenes. His getups as Ravana and Komaram Bheem will be a treat to his fans. Balakrishna shoulders this film throughout but the script hardly offer him any support.

Sheela is seen more in the comedy track than in the actual story. She did an Okay job. Ameesha Patel looked pale and dull. Neha Dhupia didn’t mind to flaunt her skin liberally. She has don a two piece bikini and also featured in a sizzling song.

Jayasudha and Murali Mohan are standard. Vijay Kumar’s performance and character are out fashioned. Nagineedu and other villains didn’t have much scope to do. Robo comedy track that is shot on Brahmanandam, Ali and Hema is cheap. There are number of noted actors in the film but none of them were used to their potential.

Analysis:

This film is opened with Bobbili Puli climax scene, where Dasari Narayana Rao tried to link this subject to it. However, Parama Veera Chakra is not a sequel to it or another version of Bobbili Puli. The film started off on a weak note and looked like a stage play in most of the scenes. None of the scenes are connected properly and every scene that shows Balakrishna doing various roles didn’t get well. Dasari took audience for granted by just placing scene after scene without any purpose. The spoof of Robo done in a separate track is painful than the actual story. It has only added to audience woes.

The intro scenes of army character are poorly done. That role which had to be powerful shouldn’t have been introduced in the way they did in this film. Dasari is surely out of form and his taking is outdated. He tried to make up for his weaknesses with his dialogs but that didn’t help it much. First half of the film is unbearable on any level. Second half might seem better to few as the story unfolds in this part. Dasari Narayana Rao didn’t try to make this film to suit the tastes of this generation audience. He got stuck up in the 80s and Parama Veera Chakra is like a B grade masala movie made with three decade old filmmaking standards.

Plus Points: Only Balakrishna’s performance

Minus points: Story,Screenplay,Songs,Direction

Verdict: Parama Veera Chakra has very little scope to survive at the box office. It will only help for the case study to know how not to make a film. Watch it at your own risk.

NAGAVALLI MOVIE REVIEW BY SATYA

Nagavalli
Movie Details
Rating : 3
Caption : It is Pure Chandramukhi Remake
Photo Gallery

Details:

Banner: Sri Sai Ganesh Productions Pvt. Ltd.
Starring: Venkatesh, Anushka, Richa Gangopadhyaya, Shraddha Das, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Sarath Babu, Prabha, Ananth Nag, Brahmanandam, Dhramavarapu, Poonam Kaur and others
Music: Guru Kiran
Cinematographer: Shyam K Naidu
Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh
Dialogue: Paruchuri Brothers
Art: Chinna
Producer: Bellamkonda Suresh
Story, Screenplay, Direction: P. Vasu

Story:

The story starts with the portrait of Chandramukhi (Anushka) being gifted to Gayatri (Kamalinee Mukherjee). Geeta (Shraddha Das) and Gowri (Richa Gangopadhyay) are the daughters of Sarath Babu and Prabha. Dharmavarupu Subramaniam brother-in-law of Sarath Babu, and his daughter Poonam Kaur stays with them. Things fall worse due to mis-happenings caused from Gauri’s engagement. In this regard, Sarath Babu meets Siddhanti who further meets Dr.Ravi (Venkatesh) to solve the situations. Dr.Ravi finds suspicious things at Sarath Babu’s house like Gayatri, the eldest daughter of Sarath Babu seen dancing in Chandramukhi’s getup in nights. Dr.Ravi makes his investigation strong and leaves to Venkatapuram and comes to know interesting things about Chandramukhi and King Naga Bhairava Rajasekhara (Venkatesh). Chandramukhi and the dance master gets killed by the king and the ghost of Chandramukhi haunts the king and the king escapes. Who is possessed by Chandramukhi out of all ladies? How does she take revenge on king? How does Dr.Ravi help out the family forms the rest of story?

Performances:

Venkatesh is fine in the psychiatrist role. He tried his best to look cruel as the King. However, Venkatesh doesn’t look like a villain even when he does evil deeds! He has another surprise getup in this film which is annoying at the best. He is fifty already and it is clearly visible on his face. Even his dances lacked those energy levels of the past. Venkatesh has no heroine and duets in this film and that is a welcome change.

Anushka too is lacking that majestic appeal that helped her to carry of a powerful role in Arundhati. Age factor started to affect Anushka too! Her classical dances are a pain to watch. Kamalinee performed and danced better than Anushka. Richa Gangopadhyaya got into action towards the end and she did an average job. Shradha Das is apt. Poonam Kaur has an insignificant role. Brahmanandam’s comedy act hardly tickles you. Dharmavarapu’s role is an imitation of Vadivelu’s in Chandramukhi. He is good. Ananth Nag, Sarath Babu and Prabha are believable.

Analysis:

director introduced Venkatesh’s character in this film as an assistant to Rajinikanth’s character in Chandramukhi film. The story and screenplay of Nagavalli is strikingly similar to Chandramukhi. Even the dialogue and song concepts too remind you of it. However, the flashback part of Nagavalli is told in an elaborate way unlike in Chandramukhi film. There is a twist in the tale towards the end and also there is a suspense element about who is the possessed girl. Barring these two changes everything in Nagavalli is just a rehash of Chandramukhi film with a different star cast.

Even the suspense element could be guessed by many as the director didn’t involve that girl’s character in the story all through the film until the secret is revealed. First half of the film is passable with few unfunny comedy scenes and uninspiring songs. In the first hour the film works only in parts. Second half gains momentum as the story starts to unravel. Flashback part is strictly Okay without any surprises. Towards the climax director starts to uncover all the details in a hurried manner. This part is full of explanations and logics. Climax looked out of the place with Venkatesh (with a weird makeup) and Anushka fighting amidst a tornado effect (absolutely not required).

Film ends on a predictable note and audiences leave the theatres wondering if this is a sequel to Chandramukhi or a remake of it!

A Paruchuri Brothers dialogue hardly leaves a mark. Guru Kiran’s music is lacking nativity. Background score is fine though. Shyam K Nadu did his best within his limitations. Art work is not bad. Editing is neat. Production values are standard. Despite having a star of Venkatesh’s caliber, the film is made with a limited budget and it is evident on the screen.

P. Vasu’s taking style and screenplay is caught in eighties. The first and last songs in this film are an example of how much outdates the director is. P. Vasu tried to repeat Chandramukhi’s magic with Nagavalli but sadly couldn’t. The script has too many holes and the climax sequences are a let down. The last half an hour of Chandramukhi worked big time due to the scariness and tight screenplay. Nagavalli lacks all those nail biting and edge of the seat moments.

Plus Points: Venkatesh factor, Attractive publicity,Scenes with Richa,Sound Effects
Minus points: Very Poor climax ,So many loose ends, Stunt scenes with old Venkatesh in 2nd half are silly,Make up of 130 year old Venkatesh is not convincing

Verdict: Nagavalli movie should work in the commercial aspect as the film is made with a limited budget. But Nagavalli fails to take us to the high expectations.

ORANGE MOVIE REVIEW

Orange
Movie Details
Rating : 4
Caption : A Different Love Story
Photo Gallery

Details:

Banner:Anjana Productions
Starring: Ram Charan, Genelia, Shazahn Padamsee, Brahmanandam, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Nagababu, Manjula, Madhurima, Pooja and others.
Dialogues: Thota Prasad
Music: Harris Jairaj
Cinematography: D. Rajasekhar, Kiran Reddy
Editor: Marthand K. Venkatesh
Fights: Peter Heynes
Producer: Nagababu
Director: Bhaskar

Story:

Jaanu (Genelia) is a confused hyperactive girl who is desperately waiting to fall in love. She is in search of an everlasting love and Ram (Charan) falls for her in the very first look. After convincing Jaanu to fall in his love, he says that he can’t love her forever. He tells her that he can only love for sometime as he believes that true love doesn’t exist forever. Jaanu tries to avoid him, he tries to adore her. So where does this love story head? What is the reason for Ram to lose belief in the concept of ‘love forever’ sums up Orange movie.

Performances:

Ramcharan did his best to fit the lover boy tag and he was neat in his dance and dialogue delivery. Two things he must avoid- a clean shave and full body shots while in a group. There was no emotional depth in his character so his body language was average.

Genelia was depressing and disappointing. Her costumes were bizarre, the make up was patchy and her face looked blotted. She has lost the innocence and charm. Perhaps it is age but the blame also goes to the styling and her image etching. Performance wise, she was regular and didn’t have any special acts.

Shahzahn comes like a breath of fresh air and though she was brief, she looks cute and attractive. She has the potential to take lead roles.

Prakashraj was regular, Brahmi’s comedy was not upto the mark, Prabhu and Pavitra Lokesh were alright, Vennela Kishore was wasted, Madhurima was quick but sweet, Naga Babu made his presence felt. The others didn’t have much to offer except filling the screens and rolling out few lines.

Analysis:

The fundamental blunder in the film is that when speaking about love it should be run on emotions and feeling but not on calculation. To make things worse, Baskar tries to explain the calculation with his own narrative style which was rather confusing. He had something noble and different in mind but he could not conceive it in the right manner on the screen. There is no emotion, no romance, no chemistry between the lead pair, no sentiment and above all, no comedy. At one stage, it becomes like a boring mathematics class where the audience have become students and are trying to understand what Professor Bhaskar is trying to explain on the love algorithm.

The other disappointment is the philosophy on love. While it is nice to have an ocean full of love, it is common sense that love alone is not life. They are two different entities and the essence of life is in striking a balance between both. Fortunately, what Baskar was trying to say ended up confusing many in the theatre but to those who may have understood a fraction of it, this is truly dangerous. On the other hand, there are quite a number of instances where Bhaskar tried to take the route of Gautam Menon but the difference is chalk and cheese.

The good side of the film is the songs and their picturization which was really impressive and visually appealing. Charan’s efforts in songs were commendable. The fight sequence which involves the spray cans was also creative and colorful. As for his much hyped sky diving stunt, that is not so appealing as expected.

Overall, the film is good on presentation but very poor in content and completely blotched on narration and concept. While the masses have nothing in it, the class audience will feel like they are in a classroom. And regarding the mega fans…well, it looks like 2010 is just not their year as their favorite heroes seem to be dealing with unconventional characters.

Plus Points: Songs, Dances by Ram Charan

Minus points: Lack of emotion quotient, Characterizations

Verdict: The movie is strictly for A centers with no mass elements. Especially the youngsters can enjoy the film. Bhaskar tried a different concept, a risky and sensitive subject. Though the film drags down in second half he finally convinces well. Overall, not a high range but an above average range flick.

Kalyan Ram Katti Movie Review

Kalyan Ram Katti
Movie Details
Rating : 2.5
Caption : Just Average entertainer
Photo Gallery

Details:

Banner: NTR Arts
Starring: Kalyan Ram, Sana Khan, Shyam, Saranya Mohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Dharmavarapu, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav, Chandra Mohan, Ajay and others
Story: Vakkantam Vamsi
Dialog: M. Ratnam
Music: Mani Sharma
Cinematography: Sarvesh Murari
Editor: Gowtam Raju
Fights: Ram Lakshman
Producer: Nandamuri Kalyanram
Director: Mallikarjun

Story:

Ramakrishna (Kalyan Ram) is a football player who loves his family very much. He likes his younger sister Haritha (Saranya Mohan) to an extent that he does anything for her. Haritha has a knack off pulling the wrong button always. She never makes right choices and gets into trouble and Ramakrishna comes to her rescue at every instance. She also makes wrong choice in choosing her life partner (Shyam). He is a factionist Muthyam’s (Kota Srinivasa Rao) son and marries Haritha to take revenge upon her. Haritha slaps him when he tries to woo her and in turn he marries her to teach her a lesson. Ramakrishna comes to know about this and goes with his sister to her in-laws place to set the things right for her. What happens next sums up the story.

Performances:

Kalyan Ram did well within his limitations. As always he excelled in action scenes and fell short of expectations in comedy scenes. He should take care on his expressions in comedy scenes as he looks like an amateurish actor while attempting comedy.

Sana Khan’s role is limited and she did an Okay job. Saranya Mohan is good in the sister role. Shyam has to maintain single expression throughout the film and he carried it with ease. Ajay’s role is introduced with a bang and was just limited to couple of scenes. He is wasted in this film. Kota Srinivasa Rao is brilliant as ever. Telangana Shakuntala is standard. Dharmavarapu is good. Brahmanandam tried to evoke few laughs. Venu Madhav did nothing noteworthy. Ahuti Prasad’s role is silly and looked spineless. Rest of the cast did according to the requirements of the script.

Analysis:

This is a usual brother and sister saga in a different setup. Story writer Vamsi tried to interweave age old sister sentiment formula and faction concept. Hence, there is ample chance for action as well as sentiment. However, the director failed to bring this on to the screen in a convincing way. Kathi movie starts off with a bang and cuts into the flashback of the protagonist.

Kathi heads in predictable lines with a tinge of entertainment mixed with little dose of family drama. It is Okay until the first half hour. As the story heads towards the main plot director went out of gas and started to make things look clumsy and unappealing. Saranya Mohan who seeks her brother’s help for anything elopes with her boyfriend all of a sudden and it isn’t given a reasonable answer. None of the family members except Kalyan Ram feel the pain or responsibility when Saranya goes missing. Instead they advice Kalyan Ram to move on with his own life and ask him to forget about his missing sister.
When Kalyan Ram knows about the problems of his sister he takes the easy path by joining the gang of goons. He doesn’t revolt immediately and tries to find a solution in a simpler way. And by doing so the justice isn’t done to either the title or hero characterization. He simply walks around by playing pranks at Brahmanandam and Dharmavarapu when his sister is facing hell like problems in that house.

Director opted to fill in entertainment by heading in the way that is shown by films like Dhee and Ready. But it didn’t suit this film as the plot is pretty serious one. The reasons shown for Shyam falling in love with Saranya Mohan are silly. The film directly goes to climax out of nowhere. When the director thought of ending this film in such a way he should’ve done that much earlier without testing the patience of audience.
M. Ratnam’s dialogs are good at times. He wrote some powerful and meaningful dialogs in this film. Manisharma’s songs are below average. Only Rama Jaya Rama song is good on ears. Background score is nice though. Sarvesh Murari’s cinematography is good particularly in action episodes. Ram Lakshman once again banked on rope work to make the fights look grand and stylish. Editor Gowtam Raju has done a fine job. Production values are good. Kalyan Ram once again proved his mettle as a producer without compromising on the quality of the film.Director Mallikarjuna once again failed to deliver after his poor Abhimanyu with the same hero.

Plus Points:Few action episodes might satisfy the mass audience,Kalyanram fooling Kota as “Naa Daivam” is hilarious.
Minus points: Story,Screenplay,Direction.
Verdict:Kathi might appeal to the audience who like to watch as many as half a dozen fights. If you are looking for some freshness and sense you can happily avoid this flick.

Raktha Charitra Movie Review

Raktha Charitra
Movie Details
Rating : 3.5
Caption : Rakta Charitra 1 is for RGV fans.
Photo Gallery

Details:

Banner: Studio Cinergy Pictures
Cast: Vivek Oberoi, Suriya, Shatrughan Sinha, Priyamani, Radhika Apte, Sudeep, Abhimanyu Singh,
Story: Prashant Pandey
Cinematography: Amol Rathod
Editing: Nipun Ashok Gupta
Music: Dharam-Sandeep
Producer: Madhu Mantena, Sheetal Vinod Talwar
Director: Ram Gopal Varma

Story:

Rakta Charitra-1 is primarily focused on the birth and rise of ‘Paritala Ravi’. Even though RGV mixed some fiction and commercial elements to the real story to appease masses, most of the content is inspired and grasped from Paritala Ravindra’s life.

Veerabhadraiah (Rajendra Gupta) is a trusted aide of MLA Narasimha Reddy. Veerabhadraiah gets killed due to caste based reasons planted by Nagamani Reddy (Kota Srinivasa Rao) in the mind of Narasimha Reddy. Veerabhadraiah’s elder son Shankar Ravi (Sushant) seeks revenge on Narasimha Reddy and he too gets killed. Shankar’s younger brother Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi) who was far from all this until then vows revenge. He kills Narasimha Reddy, Nagamani Reddy and others to become a big force in Anandapuram region.

This enrages Nagamani Reddy’s son Bukka Reddy (Abhimanyu Singh) and he waits for the right time to eliminate Pratap Ravi. In the meantime Bukka Reddy irks newly turned politician Shivaji Rao (Shatrughan Sinha), who in turn supports Pratap to put an end to Bukka Reddy. What follows is a thrilling and spine chilling finale which opens gates to the second part of this iconic tale

Performances:

Vivek Oberoi’s performance as Pratap Ravi is praiseworthy. He has underplayed the role to the maximum. This can be regarded as his best performance till date. Ram Gopal Varma showed his faith in Vivek to do justice to Paritala Ravi’s role and the actor delivered with a power packed performance.

Abhimanyu Singh as Bukka Reddy stole the show. This is one of the truly wicked and villainous characters on Indian screen and Abhimanyu lived up to all the superlatives of the role. He did a terrific job that audiences even crave for his villainous instincts and enjoy his cruelness.

Shatrughan Sinha is OK. NTR fans might not like to see Shotgun saab doing this role as they feel that no one can do justice to NTR’s role. It is true to some extent. However, Shatrughan tried his best to be and behave like NTR.

Radhika Apte is apt as Ravi’s wife. Her performance is pretty natural and striking. Kota Sirnivasa Rao once again does commendable job under RGV direction. He is perhaps one of the few directors who know to utilize the full talent of Kota.

Rest all did their part as per the director’s requirements. Tanikella Bharani and Subhalekha Sudhakar’s presence should do some good to the nativity factor which is seriously lacking in this film.

Analysis:

Our filmmakers glorified faction concept and made numerous clichéd films which gave wrong ideas on factionists. Ram Gopal Varma tried to show the real faction with a tinge of fiction. Varma hit the right chords by not taking sides and simply focused on the proceedings. He has driven the film in the director’s point of view and that helped the characters to look natural. In spite of dealing this story in an extremely creative manner, RGV didn’t dare enough to shoot the film in real locations. Saying that, RGV deserves all the praises for daringly canning some controversial scenes on NTR (Shatrugan) and Obul Reddy (Abhimanyu) characters. One should definitely watch this film to get the real taste of Rayalaseema faction.

It is clichéd to state that RGV’s film is technically brilliant. Rakta Charitra is not an exception to it. It is indeed one of his best when it comes to the technicalities. Amol Rathod’s cinematography is brilliant. He has not only grasped RGV’s intentions but also added his own touch to make the film look spectacular. Dharam-Sandeep’s music is another asset to this movie. Background score deserves a pat. Dialogues written by Nageswara Rao are not that great except for few striking punch lines. RGV believes in the adage ‘Action speaks louder than words’. However it is one of the rarest occasions in which RGV has actually given ample time for the dialog writer to exhibit his skills. Editing is crisp but it could’ve been crispier in the first hour. Art is not up to the mark as the Bihar kind of setup didn’t match to Anantapuram backdrop.

Plus Points:The concept itself is superb. When a director like RGV deals such subject the output will be definitely worth a watch.
Pratap Reddy’s sketch to kill Bukka Reddy is excellent. Unarguably, it is the best scene in the film.

RGV gives the right definition for faction in this film. His inimitable style of storytelling is the biggest plus point for RC.

Minus points:As the story, characters and emotions are completely based on Rayalaseema faction, RGV should’ve stuck to make this film solely in Telugu.

Not many of the North Indians and people from other states were aware of Ravi-Soori clash and that should mar the film’s (Hindi version) fortunes.

RGV’s voice over didn’t get well with the proceedings. It sounded like it was forced in many instances.

Verdict:First half is used for seeding the points that lead to violence filled revenge and a part of revenge; second half gives the power of politics to do whatever a leader wants to.
