Story Line:

The film is loosely based on the Rajiv Gandhi assassination and tells the story from the suicide bomber’s (Malli) perspective. Malli, an orphan raised by guerilla cadres, is the best in her class and is entrusted with carrying out the meticulously planned mission (of assassinating the “Leader”). She has to first undertake a hazardous journey from guerrilla stronghold in the heart of the jungle to the Indian mainland. Also, in order to avoid arousing suspicion she must blend w/ the local populace for a few weeks before the fateful day. Superbly shot by Sivan himself, the early parts of the film vividly document the guerilla training regimen and Malli’s flight. After that, the film wisely focuses on the inner turmoil and conflict in the would-be assassin’s mind.
